Smile On!

So as you all know, I made a Sarahah so that all my followers/friends/lovely souls can leave me a constructive message (or a positive message). And I wanted this so I can get anonymous feedback (good or bad) about my blog or how I am doing on my social media sites.  Well, I haven’t got that many. Today I got my Third One and this is what it said:

I use to hate my smile so much because it wasn’t straight. But after a while, and after some people kept complimenting on my smile. I started to love it. And now I do, I think its beautiful. Because when I smile, it makes other smile. And I know now that my smile is genuine.
I turned my insecurity into a beloved feature of myself

I just love how people like to pick at other’s insecurities. I don’t get how people are okay with picking at other’s insecurities! But as they say, people put others down to pick them back up. And we need to change that! How about we empower and compliment people, because that truly lifts you up and it makes you feel amazing. I do this all the time and it makes me feel wonderful.

So if you’re someone who likes to pick on people’s insecurities to make yourself feel better, don’t.. because it’s only going to make you feel worse in the end. No one likes a bully and no one likes someone who is mean. Try asking for help or complimenting others. There’s nothing wrong with having insecurities about yourself, it’s normal (sadly) and it’s something only you can fix but others can guide you. But putting others down isn’t a way to fix it.

In that case scenario that someone puts you down and/or picks at your own insecurity.. don’t let them bring you down. The biggest bully is the one in your head. And once you stand up to that one, you’ll be on top of the world and things that others say to or about you / your insecurities won’t matter to you. And you’ll reply like I did, and you’ll start to love your insecurities like I do (with some of them). And not everyone always has it together, I have some insecurities I’m still fighting with and it takes time. So take as much as time as you can.

No one is worth making you cry over or making you feel insecure or to hate your body.
Love your insecurities, just like I love my smile.

Challenge: I challenge you to compliment anyone and everyone you see today. It can be someone on facebook, IG, twitter, anything. Help someone love themselves, like those people helped me loved my smile.

Keep it smiling, keep loving yourself and as always, keep it dorky.

Updates on your friend, Jade!

Hey, lovely souls!

So besides blogging and social networking for this blog, I’ve been working on some other things!

First thing I want to say is that I am not an Ambassador for Worth Living! I’m super excited to be a part of the family!

I am also super excited to start my junior year this upcoming fall, I actually just transferred colleges. I went from a small private christian college to Penn State! Whoop whoop! I also just switched to a Psychology major and a Human Development and family studies minor (At my other college it was reverse!)

Finding your Inner Superhero

Hey Friends! Happy Sunday!

I have to say, this weekend was really great for me. Very fun and relaxing. Well today, I went to an event called Superhero Day. It was so great! I was doing photography but I was also dressed up as Wonder Woman.

And if you didn’t already know, I’m a HUGE wonder woman fan (well, superheros in general) and I love her because she’s very strong and independent. I feel like I rock Wonder Woman so well because she’s so empowering and I want to empower people.

Well, I want to talk to you (my friends) about finding your inner superhero. You may not like superheros or think they’re dorky or whatever (the dorkier, the better. Right? (:  )

To me, being a superhero… you don’t need superpowers like all the superheros we watch or read about. To me, the best super powers are love and kindness. I know that sounds cheesy, but if you think about it. Love and kindness can change the world so much. Love and kindness makes such much of a difference.

Embrace your inner superhero by being nice to someone, doing something for someone, giving a compliment, sending out encouraging letters to others and most importantly… just by being yourself!

You are amazing, you are strong, you are unbelievable. You may not think that but you really can change the world.. even if it’s a tiny bit.. it makes a difference!

You may be an “ordinary” person, which is weird because no two people are exactly alike, but being yourself is the SUPER part. And helping others, making them smile… that the HERO part.

(If you think about it, i would consider heroes as Fireman, policeman, doctors, nurses, etc. And they are pretty super at their job. What do they do for a living? HELP.

What does Superman, Batman, Iron-man, Wonder woman, Captain America, Spider-man, The Avengers, The X-Men, The Justice League, The Teen Titans and so on do? THEY HELP OTHERS. They keep others safe, and by being nice and sending a little sticky note saying “Don’t forget that you’re amazing” is saving someone. Mentally, emotionally, spiritually and even Physically.

 

Just some food for the soul, heart and brain. Keep it Nerdy!

Oh, Stress…

Hey Friends! How was your Saturday? I hope it was great! If it was great, awesomesauce! If it wasn’t, I’m sorry! Make tomorrow x2 more awesome to make up for Saturday!

So today, I want to talk about…

Dun, Dun, Dunnnnnn..

STRESS!

Oh yay… At different ages, we all handle stress differently. With teenagers, you have relationships, extracurricular activities, schoolwork, and being “popular” (please don’t actually stress out about this. Not worth your time…)

College Students, oh my. I rock this boat, kind of the same as teenagers.. just add adulting to it. Adults.. well.. just adulting.

And children… well. They get stressed out too, family issues, hair pulling and pushing. Lets not forget about toys. Always a stress for toys. Especially sharing a toy and finding the coolest toy out there!

Haha, in all seriousness. Stress is NOT fun. I would say I had a stressful week and I went to yoga this morning (9am. I know a miracle I was up!) with one of my 3 awesome and beautiful roommates. And can I just say that, it was so relaxing! It was nice to just get rid of that negative energy and stretching. Ah, stretching was so nice!

I really would recommend doing an activity like Yoga for stress reliefs. Or anything physical such as, working out, dancing, running, etc.

Friday night was really stress free, I went to this dj competition dance that was hosted by the student activities board on my campus. And man, that was so much fun!

I feel so un stressed right now, it feels really great!
Writing and being artistic can also really help!

Stressful Week? 

Hey friends! I’m so happy its friday! I don’t know about you, but I had a stressful week! 

But Friday night, I blew off that steam and just has fun! 

That’s my too for you! Take your stressful week, one day at a time! Lots of assignments? 

Break them up, use a planner and colorful pens! It’s helpful, I promise! Start early on big projects and exams. It’ll help! 

Another great way to destress is to deep breathe, exercise (run, walk, yoga, etc), or do what I did… hang out with friend and dance the night away! 

Others ways to destress is play with playdoh or use a stess ball, listen to music, paint or something creative. Anything that gives you a break from all the stress!

Try it and dont forget.. keep it nerdy!

A Little Note from Me!

Hey friends, how are you doing?

I hope you all are doing well! I’ve been trying to post everyday but things are getting a little crazy for me! Sorry for my absences!

I know that things can get tough sometimes (I go through rough patches too) and all I can say is just never give up. It may be rough now but trust me, it will get better. There is ALWAYS a rainbow after the storm. It may seem like the world is ending and it’ll never get better but it will. In time and keeping hope. It will.

Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from shining and smiling. Keep it nerdy!

Upcoming news! 

Hey friends! I hope you had a great day! 

I have some upcoming news with myself and this blog that I’m excited to share! 

With myself, I’m excited to share that I’m going to do yoga with my roommates on Saturday! And I’m ready to kick butt with my coursework! 

With the blog, I’ve been coming up really interesting and fun ways to post about! I’m going to do some tips on how to deal with stress, depression, etc. Also giving some awareness on mental health! 

Another thing, I’m going to chat and interview with some friends that I know deal with one or many mental illness (es). 

So hopefully, people will be interested and keep coming Back!

Why I’m So open about my Depression..

Hey friends! How are you today? I hope you’re doing well!

I really want to explain why I’m so open about my depression and my story.

I know that colleges and employers search the internet to find out what kind of person you are. But I believe that mental illnesses should be talked about more. They’re real and they matter a lot. Mental Illness and suicide rates are only going up and I’m here to help stop it.

So yeah, I have depression and I will say that. I’m not a depressed person, I am a person who has depression. I am not my depression but I struggle with it.

So yes, I want people to know this because I am such a fun-loving, caring, kind, friendly, nerdy, passionate, funny women and I will not let something I struggle with define who I am.

I am a hard-working and yes, I have my depressive moments but that doesn’t stop me from getting things done and going after my dreams. I don’t give up, if I did… I wouldn’t be here today.

Mental Illnesses are NOT something that people should be ashamed of. It’s just like a normal disease or illness. We need to be aware of mental illnesses and mental health. We need the education so we can help stop the increasing rates of diagnoses.

We need to help put a stop to the silent suffering. We need to educate more, we need to be more open and loving.

I hope this really helps some people look at this issue differently and I really hope this inspires and encourages others. That’s all I want to do.
